Tyler’s Top Three Dunks

By rob • May 29th, 2008 • Category: Sports, Sports Video

Tyler’s Top Three Dunks is a good example of creating multimedia by repurposing regular news assets. We cover UNC with photo and video all season. When our sports beat writer was able to sneak in a quick audio interview with Tar Heel center Tyler Hansbrough about his favorite dunks of the season, I was able to match it with photos and video.

Megafaun (Great Eight 2008)

By rob • May 29th, 2008 • Category: Documentary Video

This video was part of the annual Great Eight project. I was one of two shooters on the video and the primary editor. The club where the band performed was lit by a single bulb, so we improvised and decided to shoot the video in black-and-white. Given the band’s neo-folk style, the decision turned out to be a good one.

This short video was produced for the multimedia documentary project Chiloe Stories. Produced with two Chilean students with no previous video experience, the video examines an effort to preserve the native language of a small island off the coast of Chile. An interactive map allowed users to see how the difference between assessed and market values of homes had increased over time. Users could also calculate how their tax burden would shift when home values would reassessed.

ACC Now: The Podcast

By rob • May 28th, 2008 • Category: Featured, Sports, Sports Video

The ACC Now Podcast is a regular video feature on ACC sports with a focus on Duke, N.C. State, and UNC athletics. For the 2007-2008 season, I shot almost every local ACC football and basketball game. I created video content from each game as well as produced and edited the podcast. This installment of the [...]
